N
okia’s “piece de resistance”- the Lumia 800 is out. It’s the first, of course in the series and is based on their MeeGo running N9 device only but this one runs windows phone 7, Mango. The Lumia 800 is built out of a single block of Polycarbonate  plastic. Don’t let the ‘plastic’ part sway you as the handset is quite durable. The 3.7- inch, slightly raised gorilla glass display, although quite a fingerprint magnet, survived quite a bit of torture without giving in to scratches. On the whole the design and color option available make it a very funky handset even if it is a tad slippery. The lake of removable battery  and no expendable memory option other than the built in 16GB of space could be construed as an issue for some.
The Lumia 800 is powered by a 1.4 GHz scorpion processor. When it comes to functionality, as limited as the OS itself may be, the Lumia 800 manages to do everything it’s capable of, extremely well. WP7’s stripped down; visually simplistic user interface is what keeps most of their handsets irrespective of  processing power, running quite smoothly. Unfortunately for nokia though, this fantastic piece of hardware  can not live up to its  true potential that’s curtailed by the OS. Although WP7 is user friendly system, it’s still in it’s nascent storage and will require a considerable amount of tweaking before it can really give Android or iOS a run for their money. The few things about the Lumia 800 we took issue with, included the fact that Nokia has decided to go Micro sim  on us and  has also left out external memory support. What we also noticed with the otherwise crystal clear 3.7-inch (480*800 pixel) AMOLED display was that whites usually took on a slightly creamish tone. Other than that visibility in board daylight from any angle was top-notch thanks to clear black  display engine. With rhe as bad as if not worse than I tunes zune software  forming the basis of media transfer you are left with video conversions for play back on the device. There are no audio enhancement offer at all and although clear decibel level was a bit low even via the speakerphone . Internet radio tuneln and FM radio options worked well.. The connectivity domain the lumia 800 comes across as a very capable smartphone. Packing 3G and Wi-Fi  capability under it’s belt. The IE browser lacks flash and silver light support. Speed wise the browser functions very well. Social networking chatting posting massages is real task on the 800. the Lumia 800 includes nokia drive Nokia maps and Bing maps. It has an 8MP AF camera with a dual LEDs flash but no 1080p video recoding image focus was a problem in most areas in slightly low lit outdoor conditions. Video recording was much better. The 1450mAh battery sits will provide users with a fairly decent battery life which will reduce if you are using 3G that’s constantly active. It slightly expensive at rs. 29,990 and although well built it could have used more software features.
