Mac users see pricier options

Travel portal Orbitz has decided to show Mac users more expensive hotel rooms by default
when search results are displayed. The company has noticed that Mac users tend spend 30
to 40 percent more for better rooms than their counterparts who visit the site from Windows
PCs. While these users aren’t being charged for money for the same services, they aren’t being
shown the best deals either. The move raises questions about privacy and neutrality, but such
kinds of targeting are likely to become more commonplace in the future. Owners of Apple
products to tend to have higher incomes, but not all will consider this a convenience.
