Olympics cracks down on Twitter

Athletes at the 2012 Olympics have been been given strict regulation about tweeting or posting
to social media websites during the games. They may post only in a first-person “diary style”
and may not take any photos within the Olympic Villages. All photos much have the consent
of everyone in them, and commentary and news posts are banned. The IOC wants to avoid all
kinds of controversy and protect its sponsors. Rather than harnessing social media, the rules
put a damper on all kinds of communication.
